AREA
Carré d’Or
Between rue de France, rue Masséna and boulevard Victor-Hugo the flats are large and the buildings are grand. Estates here are usually handled by a notaire, and the heirs rarely live in Nice. The difficulty is not access. It is the value, real or assumed, of what is inside.
The buildings
Late nineteenth and early twentieth-century buildings, high ceilings, herringbone parquet, mouldings, fireplaces. Volumes are large, with heavy furniture and whole libraries. Old parquet takes badly to damp and to dragging, so it is protected before the first piece of furniture is moved.
The access problem
The main lift is often original and rated for little weight; there is a service lift where one survives. Access for the team and parking for the van go through the building manager, who sets the permitted hours in the communal parts. We contact them before the visit, never the night before the job.
A job typical of this area
A grand flat, a person living alone found some time after their death. Decontamination, treatment of the old parquet without lifting it, ozone treatment, then full repair. Access and the hours the stairs could be used were agreed with the building manager before the work began.
An illustrative case, reconstructed from real work. Nothing that could identify a person or an address is published.
How long it takes
Six to ten days for a large flat, longer where decontamination comes first. If you think anything may be valuable, arrange for a licensed auctioneer to come before us: we will wait for them, and we give no valuations ourselves.
Observed duration for this kind of property. It depends on the volume, the state of the place, and when the written instruction reaches us.

Tell us where the property is.
We know the local obstacle before we arrive: the lane no van can enter, the hill road, the residence where access depends on the building manager. You do not have to be in France for us to start.
