A narrow paved lane in an old Provençal village, tall façades on both sides, no vehicles and nobody about.

AREA

Villefranche-sur-Mer

The old town of Villefranche is climbed on foot, up stepped lanes where even a sack truck will not pass everywhere. On top of that, a high proportion of the properties are second homes, closed for most of the year.

The buildings

Old buildings of four to six floors, narrow stone staircases, vaulted passages, small flats with cellars below. Seafront properties show salt damp on the joinery and the ironwork.

The access problem

Stepped lanes closed to vehicles, so everything is carried by hand, sometimes more than a hundred metres. The drop-off point is identified at the visit and the removal is scheduled outside the busiest hours.

A job typical of this area

A second home closed for several years, jointly inherited by three heirs, two of them abroad. Written agreement obtained from all three before anything began, the photographic inventory sent to all three at once, and removal by hand over two days.

An illustrative case, reconstructed from real work. Nothing that could identify a person or an address is published.

How long it takes

Four to seven days for an old-town flat, the carrying being the deciding factor. Where a property is jointly inherited, the clock starts the day the last written agreement reaches us — not before.

Observed duration for this kind of property. It depends on the volume, the state of the place, and when the written instruction reaches us.

The foot of a stone staircase in an old building, steps hollowed by use, pale stone walls, no lift.

Tell us where the property is.

We know the local obstacle before we arrive: the lane no van can enter, the hill road, the residence where access depends on the building manager. You do not have to be in France for us to start.
